Gerald Yearsley has invested 23 years in the fire service, including serving the past two years as the Fire Chief for Morongo Valley Fire Department and 16 years at Yermo-Calico Fire Department in several capacities including currently serving as the District's Fire Commissioner and as a Yermo-Calico Community Services District Board Director, and five years as strike team bulldozer operator in Boise County, Idaho. Over those years, Chief Yearsley received numerous commendations, including one for saving a life in Yermo. He attended Arkansas University and completed an Executive Management Certification at Texas A & M University. Due to his success in the Executive Management program, Chief Yearsley was recruited by the Army Airforce Exchange to help improve the lowest functioning U.S, Military Base Exchange operations in the world. He rebuilt the operations at Fort Irwin, California to dramatically improve efficiency and cut waste. Subsequently, he was assigned to do the same at the U.S. Air Force base in Okinawa, Japan. The Chief's training, experience and skills at Executive Management make him an invaluable asset to upgrade the Operations of small, rural Fire Departments.
